Tommy and Tuppence were last on our TV screens 30 years ago when James Warwick and Francesca Annis played the sleuths. More than anything it’s the enthusiasm, the “Where are we going next?”’ I can’t help watching them with a sense of nostalgia, affection and recognition of the person I respected and loved so much. ‘Tuppence shows a remarkable affinity with the grandmother I remember from growing up in the 50s, which coincidentally is when this TV series is set. He says that of all her characters, the one most like the author is Tuppence. ‘Whenever she needed a rest and wanted to lose herself in something she wrote a Tommy and Tuppence story,’ says Agatha’s grandson Mathew Prichard.
